Successful SPM workshop held in Puerto Princesa in the Philippines for ECLOF's Asia Team
The staff and some Board Members from ECLOF Philippines, ECLOF Sri Lanka, ECLOF Armenia, and the Executive Director of ANED (ECLOF Bolivia) met from September 7-9 in Puerto Princesa in the Philippines for a workshop on Social Performance Management (SPM).
A rich overview of the subject generated fruitful exchanges among the participants on this important theme. The attendees felt on this occasion especially that belonging to the ECLOF family was a real gift, if only for the opportunities to share knowledge among our offices. Indeed, representatives from the participating National Offices were able to exchange their experiences and skills on topics such as client protection and social responsibility.
The diversity of the attendance was beneficial to all, from the Board Members to the Filipino Branch Managers that were also present. The Branch Managers expressed their desire to implement these SPM guidelines in their daily work. They also expressed how beneficial they found the periodic reminders of the initial mission of the Organization, as they understood SPM to call into question the sole need for financial performance. A Board Member agreed that this should likewise be recalled at their level too, through a constant dialogue with their Management.
Indeed, the conclusions of the meeting were extremely positive, with a genuine realization among the attendees that SPM is in the end not a luxury but rather a necessity.
